Full-time care in a real home

Everything a person needs to live well, provided with patience and attention in a six-resident household.

Included for every resident

Laurel Ridge provides 24-hour personal care and supervision for elderly adults in a licensed adult family home setting. Our residents typically need support with some or all activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, medication management, mobility — along with the comfort of a well-run home, scratch-cooked meals, and steady, attentive companionship.

Below is what's included in every resident's base care, what populations we serve, and what's available as an add-on for residents with higher acuity needs.

  • Respectful assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and transfers. We follow each resident's routines and preferences — this is their home, not ours.

  • Our trained caregivers handle medication assistance and administration under the oversight of a Registered Nurse and according to physician orders. Medications are documented on a MAR (Medication Administration Record), and residents are monitored for any changes in condition.

  • A caregiver is on-site and available 24 hours a day, every day. Whether a resident needs help at 2 p.m. or 2 a.m., there is someone here.

  • Three fresh meals a day from our four-week rotating seasonal menu, plus snacks and beverages throughout the day. Produce sourced from the Bellingham Farmers Market when seasonal. Meals are adjusted for each resident's dietary needs, textures, and preferences — no one is served food they won't eat.

  • Weekly (or more frequent) laundering of bed linens, towels, and personal clothing. Daily tidying and weekly deep cleaning of resident rooms and common areas.

  • A thoughtful mix of physical, mental, and social engagement — gardening, short walks, music, games, conversation, creative activities, and reminiscence. Activities are scaled to each resident's abilities and interests, not run on a generic schedule.

  • Each resident receives a personalized Negotiated Care Plan developed in partnership with the resident, family, and healthcare providers. Plans are reviewed regularly and updated as needs change. Families are notified promptly of any significant change in condition.

  • We coordinate with residents' physicians, pharmacies, hospice agencies, physical therapists, and other providers to ensure continuity of care.

Who we serve

Laurel Ridge is licensed to serve adults who need personal care and supervision in a residential setting. We are currently able to accept residents in the following categories:

  • General elderly care — adults needing assistance with activities of daily living, mobility, and medication management.

  • Early to moderate dementia — residents with memory loss who benefit from a small, predictable, low-stimulation environment and familiar caregivers.

  • Couples — our dedicated couples' room allows spouses or partners to remain together, even when one requires more care than the other.

Because we are a small home, there are some care needs we may not be able to accommodate safely. During your tour and assessment process we'll review specific needs in detail and let you know honestly whether Laurel Ridge is the right fit — or help point you toward a home that is.
