Meet Sabrina
My passion for healthcare started at the kitchen table. My mother worked as a Charge Nurse at Kaiser Hospital in Portland, Oregon, and I grew up watching her come home from long night shifts still fully present — still the person everyone in our family turned to. Her dedication shaped how I think about this work. Caring for people isn't a job description. It's a way of being with someone.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Western Washington University, and started my career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Over the next decade I worked across nearly every corner of senior care — skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, in-home care, and hospice. I learned what works in each setting, and I learned what doesn't.
Later, as a supervisor for an in-home care agency, I spent years coordinating care, supporting caregivers, and holding the line on quality. I saw what happens when care is rushed, and what happens when it isn't.
Laurel Ridge Senior Living is what I wanted to build with everything I learned: a real home, not a facility. A kitchen where meals actually get cooked. A small census so we know each resident as a person, not a room number. And care delivered by someone who has done the work for a long time and still loves it.
Owner, caregiver, and the person who will answer the phone when you call.
Our Philosophy
How we think about care. We built Laurel Ridge around four ideas:
-
Six residents is not a limitation. It's the whole point. A home this size means we know your mom's favorite chair, how she takes her coffee, which songs she hums when she's happy, and which small changes signal she isn't feeling well. That kind of knowing is only possible at this scale.
-
Food is more than nutrition. It's routine, comfort, and connection. Every meal at Laurel Ridge is cooked from scratch using a four-week rotating seasonal menu, with produce from the Bellingham Farmers Market when the season allows. No plastic trays. No thawed entrées. Real cooking, real kitchen, real smells that make a house feel like home.
-
Aging well doesn't mean pretending nothing has changed. It means being treated as the whole person you've always been — with privacy, choice, and respect — even as care needs evolve. Our care plans are personalized and reviewed continuously with residents, families, and our Registered Nurse partner.
-
You know your loved one better than anyone. We invite families in — for visits, for care conferences, for questions at any hour. A good care home should feel like an extension of the family, not a place the family hands off to.
Our nursing partnership
Laurel Ridge partners with a licensed Registered Nurse who provides oversight of care plans, medication management, and nurse-delegated tasks. This means that in addition to hands-on caregiving, every resident benefits from professional clinical oversight — giving families confidence that medical needs are being watched closely and addressed quickly.
The home
Laurel Ridge is located in a quiet residential neighborhood of Bellingham, Washington, just minutes from PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center and within easy reach of the Bellingham Farmers Market, Whatcom Hospice, and family neighborhoods across Bellingham, Ferndale, and Lynden.
The home has four private resident rooms, one shared room designed for couples, and comfortable common spaces designed for real daily life — a dining room that seats everyone at the same table, a living room with plenty of natural light, and outdoor seating for warm afternoons
